April 2008 - Request for One Dallar Donations
I would like to update the Missing Children Interactive Map that Get Involved INC. developed last year, and I was hoping some of you out there might be willing to kick in a dollar to help me do it...
Basically, the original version, which was a hybrid of HTML snippets and embedded Flash Code had some formatting issues on some peoples sites. To fix it, I had the whole thing redone in Flash. Then Myspace changed the way they allowed Flash apps to work because of security concerns... but their solution also broke all outgoing links on our widget. This is a major problem both in terms of usability and in terms of people "getting the code" so the wiget can be spread virally. I'd like to incorporate geo-targeting (so the map zooms into the area the person viewing the map is located, based on their IP address) as well as figure out how to make this application 100% myspace compatible again. Another upgrade might also be the addition of a paid sponsor link, so we don't have to rely on me, or donations, to keep everything up and running smoothly.
To do all this I'm asking you consider donating $1 via paypal to help me make the changes. If what I collect isn't nearly enough, I'll use the money for hosting. Currently the widget is being hosted by hostgator at about $15/mo, bandwidth included, so no matter what, your money can be used somewhere useful, even if it's just a buck. |
Please note we cannot yet offer you any kind of 'tax exempt receipt' for your donations, because even though we ARE a non-profit, recognized by the State of Delaware (EIN: 20-8423037), we still have to file for 'federal tax exemption', which can take upwards of a year to acquire. So until then, Get Involved Inc. is considered a non-profit corporation, but any profits generated will be taxed, and tax deductibility of contributions can only be made retroactively, IF, and only if, tax exemption is later granted.
